2020 Weddin Mountain Muster Cancelled

Despite hopes the 2020 Weddin Mountain Muster would go ahead the committee had to make the heart breaking decision last week to call the event off.

"The Weddin Mountain Muster Committee have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 Pandemic," Weddin Mountain Muster publicity officer Alex Makin said.

"The health and safety of our riders, volunteers and wider community is of the upmost importance to us, as is the integrity of our fabulous event."

The event usually held in the October school holidays attracts hundreds of horses and riders to the region for a week long trek across the Weddin Shire area.The Muster is very popular with equestrians not only locally but travelling from as far afield as southern Queensland to take in the local scenery and socialise on horseback, with fundraising throughout the week for local organisations and charities.

Though the 2020 event will not be going ahead the committee already have their sights set on next year's Weddin Mountian Muster.

"We have received a huge amount of positive feedback regarding our decision and both the Committee and participants are looking forward to 2021," Alex said.

Even the dates have been set so everyone can plan ahead and work on their horses (and in some cases rider's) fitness.

"The Weddin Mountain Muster will occur in 2021 from Sunday September 19th to Friday September 24th," Alex said.
